I wasn't expecting to release two albums this year, but it ended up happening anyway! This one wasn't distilled from a bunch of heady conceptual underpinnings, just vague allusions to natural spaces and the cycles of day - so it has a much more spontaneous and improvisatory feel to it. A fair bit of this album was recorded outside, near the forests and creeks of north-eastern California, thousands of meters above sea level. Some of these spots were scourged by fire just a few days later.

The first track is a fragrant late-morning acoustic breakfast, using around 19 different open guitar tunings and absolutely no amplification on any of the instruments.

The second track shifts gears into scronky atonal noise, representing the part of the afternoon that's the hottest and most oppressive. This is textbook Tartary, hearkening back to the earliest days of this musical identity - and long before that, still.

The third track cools the day off with a psychedelic creekside meditation on the approach of evening, where the insectoid harmonic gestures of the synth flit and hover above a gradually ascending stream of chords that flows over the bedrock of a three-note drone loop.
